Although I was questioning myself for last night having requested my B&B breakfast for 7:00am rather than 8:00, I was up as required and soon thereafter thankful to be finishing this morning's fuel & chain routine just as the sun was starting to get hot and my patch of shade disappearing to directly beneath the fuel pump canopy. I loaded out for the last time, spared a minute to play on the unmanned weigh station, then Badger and I proceeded to embark the MV Lafferty for our final ferry ride home. |
My original chain has finally started to exhibit some stretch, and I took the time along the day to twice clean road muck out of it. I got caught limping home on a past trip on my KLR when chain rollers started to crack and the chain skip in my last 100 km to Yellowknife, so I wasn't feeling keen to take any chances with chain abuse, that memorable day having imparted on me the lesson that you're not home 'til you're home.
Thanks for the company out there. Final thoughts to follow. (Maybe for real this time!)
