A simple and uneventful day today, really. (Well, aside from it being Monday and me not getting up to go to work and it being sunny and +25C and me instead getting up to ride my motorcycle on new roads. Aside from that, uneventful.) I loaded out from Air Force Lodge and was rolling by 8:30, and powered through 260 km straight to Teslin (pre-coffee, but impressively without tipping over even once). Badger gassed up amidst three other bikes and a jacked up, expeditionized, globetrotting Land Cruiser, and then we powered another 40 km to Johnson's Crossing, where I'd planned to stop for breakfast and coffee. My planning failed to appreciate that after 300 km, it would be noon, and that their grill would be filled with burgers and hence the french toast and eggs I'd been visualizing for the last 300 km were but a dream. (Still a good pitstop, though.) |
With all of the highway through-traffic, Whitehorse has a very different feel to it from Yellowknife. In a nutshell, it feels like the south. (First impression.)
