I woke at 06:00 for a targeted 07:10 departure, to catch the 08:30 ferry from Horseshoe Bay across to Nanaimo. Leaving the Howe Sound Brewhotel, I chatted briefly with an eastbound Calgarian on an F800GS who'd shared a parking stall with Badger overnight, then set off. My attempt to acquire a "Have a 99 Day" sticker for my pannier failed, it being too early for the bartender-recommended shop to be dealing stickers.
I made the boat. It felt a little odd being on a bigtime ferry! Boarding lanes, wheel chocks, designated parking -- all very different from the MV Lafferty, the Needles, the Fauquier!
