It's that time again. Last night, I flew into San Francisco to launch my next reunion tour with Badger. Today was a planned stationary day in The Bay area to tackle some preparatory errands. The main chore of the day was swapping on a new rear tire. I elected to forego spending my whole day manually spooning the big, stiff, tubeless thing on in Carlos' driveway, and instead visited MotoTireGuy, an easygoing guy who makes a business out of installing customers' online-ordered tires, working out of a nondescript warehouse bay out towards Hunters Point (south of downtown SF). I highly recommend Robbie; he had me on my way before I could blink, effortlessly going through his motions with all the right tools. Also, he astutely pointed out to me that the stamped max pressure on a rear TKC80 is 34 psi according to Continental (compare against KTM's prescribed 42 in the book). So I'll air down to ~37. (EDIT: DON'T DO IT! SEE JULY 23, 2017 FOR DETAILS.) |
Another special thanks to C&C for their hospitality to both Badger and I. I feel lucky to have friends who make this sort of trip both (a) possible, and (b) that much more enjoyable.
